Its partially sheltered bay has beach lifeguards and generally relatively calm water, making it a setting for introductory SUP and kayak sessions. From the main beach, follow the coastline towards Stanley Main Street to the west, enjoying the sea breeze and a quieter perspective away from the crowds on land.

At the end of Stanley Main Street, historic Murray House and Blake Pier come into view. Looking back from the water offers a distinctive perspective on these heritage landmarks and a seaside holiday atmosphere you cannot capture from the street.
⛵ A Further Challenge: Windsurfing and Wingfoil
Stanley Main Beach has a long windsurfing tradition and has trained many members of Hong Kong’s water-sports teams. Alongside kayaking and SUP, it is a place to explore newer water sports. Government and private centres near the beach offer equipment rentals and courses:

Overview: A long-established private water-sports centre rooted in Stanley since the 1970s. It offers flexible equipment rentals without the same certification arrangements as government centres. It also specialises in wingfoil lessons, with instructors teaching handling and balance to newcomers to the sport.

Stanley Main Beach Water Sports Centre (LCSD)
Overview: A government-run water-sports centre with a wide range of equipment and affordable fees. Note that rentals, including windsurfing equipment and sailing dinghies, and course enrolment generally require relevant qualifications or certificates recognised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

🚌 Transport and Beach Facilities
Transport: Bus routes 6, 6X and 260 serve Stanley from the Central area; green minibus 16M runs from Chai Wan Station. Alight at Stanley Police Station or Stanley Village, then walk approximately 5–10 minutes to Stanley Main Beach. Facilities: The beach has LCSD changing rooms, showers and lockers. After your activity, Stanley Main Street, Murray House and Stanley Plaza are a short walk away, with waterfront restaurants and bars for a relaxing day out.
