You only need to bring comfortable athletic clothing, sunscreen (SPF 30+), and at least 500ml of drinking water. For full-day activities (4+ hours), please bring your own lunch. Waterproof phone bags are available as an add-on rental.

Can I participate without experience?

Yes — no prior experience is required for any of Kayarine's rental or guided tour activities. Our certified instructors provide a 15–20 minute safety briefing and basic paddling technique session before every activity. Over 80% of our customers are first-time kayakers or SUP paddlers. For those seeking formal certification, we offer ISA (International Surfing Association) certified SUP courses led by licensed coaches.

What happens in bad weather?

Kayarine monitors Hong Kong Observatory forecasts in real time. If the Observatory issues a Yellow Rainstorm Warning, Thunderstorm Warning, or Typhoon Signal No. 1 or above during your activity window, you may choose a free reschedule or a full refund — no questions asked. We proactively contact all affected customers at least 2 hours before the scheduled start time. Your safety is our absolute priority.

Can I bring pets?

Yes — Kayarine is one of the few pet-friendly water sports operators in Hong Kong. We offer specially designed 2+1 family kayaks with a dedicated safety seat for small to medium-sized pets. Pets must wear their own life jacket (not provided by Kayarine). Please notify us when booking so we can assign the appropriate kayak. Final approval depends on pet size, weather conditions, and group experience level.

Where can I store my belongings?

You can leave bags and personal items at our Sai Kung Waterfront pickup point — a staff member remains on-site throughout your activity. We recommend leaving valuables (cash, IDs, designer items) at your accommodation, as Kayarine does not provide insurance or accept liability for stored items. Waterproof phone bags are available to rent so you can bring your phone on the water.

Are there changing rooms at the pickup location?

Simple changing tents are available at our pickup point. For full shower and changing facilities, we recommend Sai Kung Sports Ground (free, 07:00–23:00, 2-minute walk) or Sai Kung Squash Courts (basic facilities, 07:00–23:00, 3-minute walk). Sai Kung Swimming Pool offers complete shower facilities but requires a ticket. All facilities are within 2–6 minutes' walk of our location.

Is there parking available near Kayarine?

Accepted Answer

Yes — three parking options are within walking distance. Jockey Club Golf Course car park is approximately 1 minute away (HK$20–24/hour). Man Nin Street metered parking is about 8 minutes away (HK$8/hour). Mei Fook Street car park is about 5 minutes away (HK$24–30/hour). Our pickup point at Sai Kung Waterfront Park is also accessible by minibus and taxi from Sai Kung town centre.

Where can I shower and change after returning?

Four options are within walking distance: Sai Kung Sports Ground (free changing rooms and showers, 07:00–23:00), Sai Kung Squash Courts (basic changing and shower facilities, 07:00–23:00), Sai Kung Swimming Pool (complete shower facilities, admission ticket required), and Yi Chun Street Public Toilet (basic shower facilities). All are within 2–6 minutes' walk of our Sai Kung Waterfront location.

What is the weather refund policy?

Kayarine's weather policy is straightforward: if the Hong Kong Observatory issues a Yellow Rainstorm Warning or above, a Thunderstorm Warning, or Typhoon Signal No. 1 or above during your scheduled service time, you can choose a free reschedule or a full refund. If a warning is issued after your activity has already departed, our guides will assess conditions on-site and may redirect to sheltered coastal areas or return early — no refund applies in this case. We always prioritise participant safety over completing the activity.

How far in advance can I reschedule?

Accepted Answer

You can reschedule your booking up to 24 hours before your activity start time via our online reschedule form — no phone call required. Members can reschedule instantly through the member dashboard. Rescheduling within 24 hours is subject to availability and staff approval. Kayarine does not charge a rescheduling fee for weather-related changes.
